Beefed-up Hyundai concepts set for SEMA show in Vegas

Hyundai America is gearing up for the 2016 SEMA automotive trade exhibition, with some heavily modified show cars.

The SEMA show (Specialty Equipment Market Association) has a heavy focus on the world of custom cars and takes place in Las Vegas. Hyundai will reveal a nitrous-based Rockstar Santa Fe Concept, a race-ready Gurnade Veloster Concept and the “Santa-Fast” SUV with 1000+ PS.

To develop these cars, Hyundai joined forces with Rockstar Performance Garage, Gurnade Inc., ARK Performance and Bisimoto.

The nitrous-powered Santa Fe capable of serious off-roading was developed with Rockstar - renowned for its energy drink - and the concept follows that reputation with a nitrous-powered, Hyundai-based 3.3-litre Lambda V6 engine driving all four wheels through any terrain via a raised Santa Fe off-roading setup.

The race-ready Gurnade Veloster Concept takes the aggressive stance of the Veloster and magnifies it further with integrated flares, front splitter, racing canards, (small wings attached to the front spoiler), 3-piece lightweight forged wheels and a custom rear spoiler.

Another established partner of Hyundai America is Bisimoto. This time they joined forces in developing a 1040 PS, rear-wheel drive “Santa-Fast”. Bisimoto is renowned for its street, show and race vehicles, and the Bisimoto “Santa Fast” Santa Fe is no exception, pumping out the power from a flex-fuel turbocharged, Hyundai-based 3.8-litre Lambda V6 powerplant for 'reliable power, positioned longitudinally', driving the rear wheels.

The SEMA Show takes place November 1-4, 2016 at the Las Vegas Convention Centre.
