Geneva debut for all-new DS 7 Crossback SUV

The DS 7 Crossback is the latest model to be unveiled by DS Automobiles - making its public debut at the Geneva International Motor Show.

The new SUV is said to combine the latest technological innovations with the DS brand’s ‘Parisian savoir-faire, introducing new levels of driving comfort and performance’.  The car is aimed at customers who are in tune with the latest trends and appreciate the world of luxury.

“DS 7 Crossback ushers in a second era for DS Automobiles. This global SUV, refined and high-tech, embodies French know-how by bringing together premium materials, craftsmanship and technological innovations. Its advanced equipment introduces new levels of driving comfort and performance.” said Yves Bonnefont, CEO of DS.

Taking the first step towards autonomous driving, innovative technologies such as DS ACTIVE LED VISION, DS CONNECTED PILOT and DS DRIVER ATTENTION ASSIST are said to increase safety, comfort and peace of mind for both the driver and the passengers.

For the exterior, there’s a new diamond-effect grille, horizontal chrome DS Wings and LED rotating headlamps, while the interior is available with a choice of four DS Inspiration ambiences, reflecting the DS concept of even more personalisation options.

With its LED light signatures, unique interior stitching techniques, and the motorised watch by B.R.M placed on the dashboard, as featured on the DS E-TENSE concept, the DS 7 Crossback is said to represent the brand’s vision for the future. The SUV will be available with a plug-in hybrid petrol drivetrain with 300hp and 4WD, a new latest-generation Efficient Automatic Transmission with 8-speeds, a THP S&S 225hp engine and two electric motors.

“At all stages of the design process, our aim with DS 7 Crossback was to express refinement, excellence and the best know-how implemented to the highest standards. The result is there to see, with a charismatic car ideally proportioned. It is a perfect alchemy of power and refinement.” said Thierry Metroz, DS Design Director.

The DS 7 Crossback will feature a plug-in hybrid petrol drivetrain comprising a 200hp petrol engine and two electric motors (with an output of 80kW / 109hp each) mated to a new 8-speed ‘Efficient Automatic Transmission’ (EAT8), positioned transversely across the front axle.

A lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 13kW/h and output of 90kW is positioned under the row 2 seat floor, while a powered rear axle, driven by a second electric motor, delivers 4WD capability. The additional energy supplied by the two electric motors (up to 80kW each and 90kW combined) to the petrol engine takes the total power available up to 300hp. In all-electric use, the 13kW/h battery delivers a range of up to 37miles. In standard mode, charging takes 4.5hours but in fast mode, it can take less than 2.5-, with a 6.6kW charger that plugs into a 32A socket.

Alongside the hybrid, there will ultimately be a choice of five internal combustion engines compliant with the Euro 6.2 standard: three petrol units (THP 225 S&S EAT8, THP 180 S&S EAT8, PureTech 130 S&S 6-speed manual) and two Diesel units (BlueHDi 130 S&S - with a choice of 6-speed manual or EAT8 - and the BlueHDi 180 EAT8).

The DS 7 Crossback will make its world debut at the 87th Geneva International Motor Show which opens its doors to the press on March 6.
