Following on from Ferrari F1 drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, who raced each other in a pair of FFs down the slalom track at Madonna di Campiglio, rally veteran Markku Alen, has showed what the first ever four-wheel drive Ferrari can do in the hands of an ice track specialist. Alen raced the FF through freezing temperatures along the 14km of "Forest" track at Arjeplog [ar-ee-ay-ploog], in northern Sweden. Located just 100km south of the Arctic Circle, Ferrari believes this track is probably the most challenging surface for the 12-cylinder FF, and its ability to cope with the demanding conditions was highly praised by the 1978 World Rally Champion. McLaren has unveiled the new MP4-27 Formula 1 car, with which it hopes to challenge the Red Bulls that have dominated the sport for the last two seasons. Former World Champions Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton were optimistic about the team's chances. Meanwhile, in Italy, Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa unveiled the car that Ferrari hopes will secure its first Championship since 2007. The F2012 is the fifty-eighth F1 car built by Ferrari, and incorporates the Scuderia's interpretation of this year's rule changes governing chassis height, exhaust pipe positioning, and engine mapping. Rolls-Royce Bespoke service

More than half of clients who specified a Rolls-Royce Ghost in 2011 turned to bespoke personalisation. The service, which includes anything from the application of unique paint colours, coach lines and tread plates to whole vehicle designs featuring champagne sets, humidors and picnic cabinets, helped drive Rolls-Royce to record sales last year. In total, 56% of Ghost and Ghost Extended Wheelbase models sold around the world featured bespoke design. More...

Citroen DS5 prices released

Citroen has released pricing and specification details for the all new DS5 - the latest and final instalment in the French marque's premium DS range. Available from launch is a choice of four petrol and diesel Euro V compliant engines, while the DS5 is also the first Citroën to be fitted with Hybrid4 technology. Prices start at £;22,400 rising to £;32,200 for the range-topping Hybrid4 D-Sport. Geneva 2012 preview

Ford has chosen this year's Geneva Motor Show to take the covers off the production version of the all-new B-MAX compact multi-activity vehicle, one year after it appeared in concept form at the same venue. Meanwhile, Skoda will debut the five-door version of its new city car - the Citigo. The Citigo has already received a five star Euro NCAP rating, and is also the first Skoda to sport the brand's new logo. Finally, Fiat has released images of the all-new 500L, which will also make its world premiere in Geneva. The 500L is a new addition to the 500 range: it's larger with five doors and intended to broaden the 500's appeal to customers who require more space than the standard 3-door version can offer. Renault has swung the axe on a number of longstanding models to make way for the arrival of its new Z.E. electric fleet, with effect from 1st February. Cars for the chop include the Espace, Laguna, Modus, and Kangoo, while in the UK the Wind Roadster and Gordini line-up will also be discontinued. Meanwhile, the Twizy range will be launched in April, with prices starting from £;6,690, plus monthly battery hire of £;45. The little electric runabout will be joined by the Fluence Z.E. International Electric Vehicle Racing Championship

Plans are afoot to develop a new generation of sustainable motorsport. Sustainability specialists Quimera, the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) and the American Le Mans Series are working together to launch a new international Electric Vehicle series by 2013. Initially, a version of the Quimera All-Electric GT car will make its debut in demonstration runs at selected American Le Mans Series race events in 2012. Hyundai has launched a saloon version of the i40. Priced from £;17,395 on-the-road, the i40 saloon joins the Tourer estate variant and is available in three main trim levels, with a choice of three engines and manual or automatic transmissions. Designed and engineered at its European Headquarters in Germany, Hyundai says the i40 has been tailored specifically for European roads and customers, and has also received a 5-star Euro NCAP rating. Since its launch, more than 150,000 X6s have been sold, far exceeding BMW's expectations. Colour and trim upgrades mean that customers can now choose from two non-metallic and eight metallic paint finishes, while 19-inch light alloy wheels are fitted as standard.
