| Rear-facing seats offer better protection |

As Child Safety Week comes to an end, Volvo Car UK is playing its part by launching a new range of child car seats.
The range even includes a convertible (multi-way) child seat which can be turned around and used either rear facing or forward facing. All seats have been crash tested and the convertible seat allows a child to be carried safely facing backwards until the age of six. "Children should travel rearward facing for as long as possible which should prevent serious injury in a crash," said Jessika Andreasson, Product Manager at Volvo Car Corporation. "A child's neck is weak and it is still growing, and the head is proportionately larger than that of an adult.
"When travelling rearward facing, incoming collision forces are spread across the back and head, thus reducing the load on the neck in a frontal impact, which is the most common and often the most dangerous type of collision," she added. In addition, all seats meet the Oeko-Tex Standard 100, which guarantees they are free from specified allergy-forming substances.
All covers are removable and are capable of withstanding the 40 degree cycle in the washing machine. Volvo's car seat range has been developed in association with Britax and each one is available to order from UK dealers with immediate effect. |
