Fuji Heavy Industries, parent of Subaru, has detailed a plug-in electric car known as the Stella Concept.
This Subaru Stella uses the electric vehicle (EV) system employed in the R1e, seen at motor shows previously.
The company plans to use the car in the development and test-marketing of the next generation of EV in Japan in the near future.
The vehicle's battery performance has been undergoing tests since June 2006.
40 units of the R1e model, equipped with lithium ion (Li-ion) batteries, have been used by corporate fleets and by local Japanese Government, providing performance results that further advance Subaru's EV development work.
Weighing 1,060kg, seats for four and a top speed of 62mph, the Stella EV can travel approximately 50 miles on a single charge.
Five examples of the car will be offered for the use of attendees at the G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit, to be held next week.
Four of those five will be used to transport government officials and other participants at the summit, while one vehicle will be displayed at the Environmental Showcase. |
