Peugeot 508 HYbrid4 announced

Peugeot's HYbrid4 range is expanding, with the addition of two models in the shape of the 508 saloon and RXH.

The Peugeot 508 RXH and 508 Saloon HYbrid4 both follow the 3008 HYbrid4 in using the latest modular hybrid technology. HYbrid4 incorporates the French manufacturer's 2.0-litre HDi 163 Diesel engine to power the front wheels, while a 37bhp electric motor drives the rear wheels.

The 508 RXH is a premium specification vehicle that has features over and above the 508 Saloon HYbrid4, with which Peugeot hopes to attract high-end buyers. Exclusively available in the SW estate body style, and combined with the HYbrid4 powertrain, it has a raised stance, original style features and bespoke 18" Attila alloy wheels. Other features include front and rear parking aid and parallel parking assist, panoramic glass roof, Colour Head Up display, USB point and acoustic laminated side windows with tint on rear.

The 508 Saloon HYbrid4 carries a comprehensive specification similar to the well-specified 508 Allure but with the dynamic benefits of the HYbrid4 technology. Features like keyless entry with Stop/Start button, cruise control with speed limiter, automatic parking brake with Hill Assist, automatic dual-zone air conditioning, electric folding door mirrors, Peugeot Connect Navigation (RT6) with Bluetooth, Peugeot Connect SOS and Assistance, automatic headlamps and wipers, 18" alloy wheels and half leather seats are all standard equipment.

The saloon version of the 508 can manage the 0-62 sprint in 9 seconds flat, while delivering 78.5 miles per gallon on the combined cycle. This corresponds to a CO2 emissions figure of 95g/km, exempting the 508 HYBrid4 from the London Congestion Charge. VED for private owners costs nothing, while Benefit-in-kind taxation for company car buyers stands at 10%.

The 508 RXH is half a second slower from standiing to 62 than its saloon sibling, and is marginally less efficient with a combined fuel consumption figure of 68.9mpg. CO2 emissions stand at 107g/km, and Benefit-in-Kind taxation works out at 12%.

The Peugeot 508 RXH is priced at £33,695 and the Saloon HYbrid4 £31,450. Both models are available to order, with the 508 RXH on sale from May and the 508 Saloon HYbrid4 from July 2012.
