Following on from Scuderia Ferrari F1 drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, who raced each other in a pair of FFs down the slalom track at Madonna di Campiglio, Alen showed what the first ever four-wheel drive GT from Modena could do in the hands of an ice track specialist.
Located roughly 100 km South of the Artic Circle, Arjeplog offered temperatures between -15° and -30° Celsius for Alen and the FF as they worked the steep inclines and challenging corners of the 14km "Forest" track. Ferrari believes the track is probably the most challenging surface for its latest 12-cylinder, and its ability to cope with the demanding conditions was highly praised by the Finnish winner of the World Rally Championship in 1978.
Markku Alen was able to test the FF to extremes, particularly the car's traction on surfaces with extremely low grip. With 53% rear weighted bias and Ferrari's 4RM four-wheel drive system, Ferrari was able to demonstrate the FF's performance, stability and safety in the harshest environments, while Markku himself commented that the FF is especially enjoyable to drive, even for a former World Champion.
