The practical 5-door 5-seater SUV also features 475 litres of boot space (408 litres in 4x4 with spare wheel), which expands, once the rear seats are dropped, to 1,636 litres. More than enough, says Dacia, "for several dogs, a sizable amount of leisure equipment, or even the kitchen sink".

Dacia will offer a simple three trim level Duster line-up in the UK, in both 4x2 and 4x4 guises: Access, Ambiance and Laureate.
As well as the base 4x2 model, the Access trim level also features a 4x4 version for an extra £2,000 at £10,995, making it the cheapest compact 4x4 SUV in the UK by some margin.
Both models are powered by a 105hp 1.6-litre petrol engine which gives fuel economy of 39.8 mpg (35.5 in 4x4) and CO2 emissions of 165g/km (185g/km 4x4).
Standard features include 16" steel wheels, longitudinal roof bars, height adjustable steering wheel, electric front windows plus remote central locking together with radio and speaker pre-wiring.
An emergency spare wheel is fitted free-of-charge to 4x4 versions and safety equipment includes ABS and Emergency Brake Assist, four airbags and ISOFIX points on the outer rear seats.
Moving up the range, Ambiance models feature diesel power from Renault's 110hp 1.5 dCi unit, producing the lowest CO2 emissions in the Duster range, offering 130g/km in the 4x2 models, as well as 137g/km in 4x4, together with economy of 56.5 mpg (53.3 in 4x4).
Additional equipment over the Access models includes a 4x20W radio/CD with AUX, Bluetooth, USB connectivity and steering-column mounted fingertip controls, plus body coloured bumpers, 60/40 split folding rear seats, front fog lights and height adjustable driver's seat.
The flagship Lauréate version of the Duster is expected to be the best-seller in the UK, accounting for around two-thirds of orders.
Priced from £12,995 to £14,995, the Lauréate adds 16" alloy wheels, air conditioning, electric rear windows, leather steering wheel and trip computer plus upgraded styling features finished in satin chrome on the exterior and piano black on the interior.
All new Dacias come with a 3 year/60,000 mile warranty (whichever is reached sooner). Buyers can choose to extend this to a five- (60,000 miles), or seven-year (100,000 miles) policy, for £395 or £850, including VAT.
A total of 127 Dacia Retailers have been appointed across the UK. From 28 June, each one will have a left-hand drive Duster available in the showroom for display purposes, as well as a trained sales person to guide potential customers around its key features and selling points.
The Dacia Store at www.dacia.co.uk is accepting pre-orders online from 28 June, ahead of first deliveries in January 2013.
